Here we GROW!

Well, things are changing around here!

I put my first card in stores a little over 16 months ago and things just started growing from there. I have been so lucky to partner with a couple of really nice stores in the Atlanta area. They have embraced me as an artist, encouraged my growth, and supported me as I brain storm ideas. Sometimes those ideas don’t work out. Other times they do. Over the past year and a half, that one card has grown into MANY more and into prints as well… and that is all on top of selling custom orders on Etsy and even a few originals in stores. Now, it’s time to grow again.

I once listened to a podcast about how the brand Patagonia was built. There were many words of wisdom shared, but the one thing that stood out most is that not all growth is good growth. I have been planning this little growth spurt over the course of months. I have made goals and then revised them to be attainable and pragmatic. What is the best use of my time? What do I WANT to do with my time? How do utilize resources efficiently? What I discovered is that, to grow, sometimes you have to give up something…sometimes you have to rearrange focus. So Fischer Busby Designs is not only growing, its changing too!.

The first thing to go is custom orders (Sorry Guys!). The trade off? I use my custom order time to be able to do more custom invitation and stationery design. Its the part of stationery design that I love and I have been given more and more opportunity to do it, so here we go. I have also started creating a semi custom line of wedding invitations from which clients can choose which style they like and customize it to make it as basic or as elaborate as the suite allows. This will include choices of paper, printing, and types of envelopes. My goal is to be able to offer boutique invitation options to brides who may be on a budget or in a time crunch.

Another area of growth for me is having organized collections of original artwork for sale on a more regular basis. These will be more frequent releases of a small bodies of artwork that I will sell on my website. These paintings will not be offered in stores or as prints but will be exclusive to my website and local shows.

I will continue to create prints and seasonal cards and will be selling them mostly in stores and at my local shows. I am thinking about offering select prints on my website, but we will see how time permits. Remember! I am a one woman show and I want to make sure I can keep up with things!!

And to make all of this plan happen? Well, I needed a new website. AND if you are here reading this, well, then you have found it. Thank you so much for stopping by! By the way, there are suppose to be more blog posts in this growth plan. We will see how that goes!
